Prototype Development

A prototype should answer practical questions before production money is committed. We help independent designers turn a drawing, reference or early sample into a clearer and more manufacturable leather product.

Typical scope

  • Brief and feasibility review
  • Material and hardware direction
  • Construction and dimension review
  • Pattern or component development where required
  • One physical prototype
  • Recorded revision notes
  • Production quotation after sample approval

How pricing works

Prototype development is quoted separately from batch production. The fee depends on complexity, pattern work, custom hardware, carving, tooling and the number of revisions required. Production does not begin until the sample and written specification are approved.

Timing

Many straightforward small-leather-goods prototypes can be completed in approximately two to four weeks after specifications and payment are confirmed. Bags, custom tooling and complex structures may require longer.
